ARTWORK NARRATIVE:
This icon depicts Christ as the Word spoken by the Father, beyond the reaches of time, and even of eternity itself. To depict this timelessness, Christ emerges from darkness, surrounded by a flame-colored mandola. Within the mandala, between the rays of light, is the song of the Seraphim and Cherubim, "Holy, holy, holy", repeated endlessly. His wings are a symbolic device to depict him as spirit, not yet incarnated as man in time. In the scroll in his left hand are the words of the Word that will establish creation and reveal to humankind light and life.
