Dec 18 - “Moses” © artwork by Louis Glanzman.
Moses brought the people out from the camp to the foot of Mount Sinai. In the morning of the third day there was thunder and lightning. All the mountains shook and gave out smoke like a furnace. A trumpet sounded loudly. God began to speak from the cloud.
Then God called Moses up to the top of Mount Sinai and gave him Commandments written on tablets of stone. God spoke and said:
“I, the Lord, am your God. You shall not have other gods besides Me.
You shall not take the name of the Lord, your God, in vain.
Remember to keep holy the Sabbath day.
Honor your father and your mother.
You shall not kill.
You shall not commit adultery.
You shall not steal.
You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
You shall not covet your neighbor's wife.
You shall not covet anything that belongs to your neighbor.”
