Jeanine Deckers (17 October 1933 — 29 March 1985), known in English as The Singing Nun, was a Belgian nun, and a member (as Sister Luc Gabriel) of the Dominican Fichermont Convent in Belgium. She became internationally famous in 1963 as SÅ“ur Sourire (Sister Smile) when she scored a hit with the French-language song "Dominique". In the English-language world, she is credited on her records as "The Singing Nun."

This paper-cutting by Dan Paulos is of Our Lady singing the nuns' song:

FAR BEYOND THE STARS

MY SOUL IS LONGING TO GO.

THERE, BEYOND THE SUN

TO A BETTER PLACE, I KNOW.

THROUGH THE DARKEST NIGHT

I CAN SEE THE HEAVENLY GLOW:

FAR AWAY BEYOND THE STARS

FAR AWAY BEYOND THE STARS....
