Veronica Wipes the Face of Jesus
Jesus, suddenly a woman comes out of the crowd. Her name is Veronica. You can see how she cares for you as she takes a cloth and begins to wipe the blood and sweat from your face. She can't do much, but she offers what little help she can.
Sometimes we fail to notice the needs around us. Sometimes our own family members crave our attention, and we don't even seem to notice. Sometimes a co-worker, friend, or family member could use help or understanding, but we don't reach out to help lest we be criticized, or that they demand more of us than we'd like to give.
Help us see the needs of others as being as important as our own needs. Remind us to go out of our way to be helpful, even if we're not asked. Help us to not be concerned about what others may think of us.
O God, who before the passion of your only-begotten Son revealed his glory upon the holy mountain: Grant to us that we, beholding by faith the light of his countenance, may be strengthened to bear our cross and be changed into his likeness from glory to glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
